Southern Energy Renewables announced a $1.4 billion investment to develop a green methanol and sustainable aviation fuel facility in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. The project is expected to create 120 direct jobs and 394 indirect jobs, for a total of 514 new opportunities in the region. Using wood-waste biomass and existing energy infrastructure, the facility aims to produce lower lifecycle-carbon fuels at commercial scale. Pre-construction and site development are underway, with construction expected to begin in late 2027 and commercial operations targeted for late 2029.
